The Pelosov Gallery / Old Post Office was built in 1924, according to the plans of the architect Xenophon Paionidis. In the period before World War II, it housed the central post office of Thessaloniki, however, in 1941 it was bombed. It was then repaired and housed the post office again until 1978, when it was heavily damaged by earthquakes and remained unused for a long time.
