Hagia Sophia (or officially the Church of the Holy Wisdom) of Thessaloniki is one of the oldest and most important Christian churches in the city. It was built in the middle of the 7th century on the site of a large early Christian Basilica, which was destroyed, probably by an earthquake, at the beginning of the same century.
