Georgia Dodou, The Communications Curator, Hospitality & Gastronomy
Can someone who does not consume retsina (who states, in fact, that even a sip of retsina gives them a headache) change their mind? In the case ofthe communications curator, hospitality & gastronomyof Thessaloniki the answer is clearly positive – all it took was the tasting of a properly produced retsina, acquiring a truly unique character, for her to change her mind. Somehow, she now declares herself a lover of this specific, especially Greek wine.
THE RETURN.
Experience proves one thing: if a wine has the potential to reverse the bad image some have of it, possibly making a triumphant "come back", it is retsina. Typical (and confirming) of this principle is the case of the communications curator, hospitality & gastronomy Georgia Dodou.
"The truth is that retsina and I have not happened to 'meet' properly until now. Any sip gave me a terrible headache, so this relationship didn't work..." explains Mrs. Dodou, when we ask her how present it is and in what way retsina is in her daily life. However, she hastens to add, when we ask her to clarify her view of retsina, to reveal to us what are the elements, places, persons, and situations with which she has associated it in her consciousness:
"I have combined it with a tavern. A 'typical' wine, of low wine quality", she asserts. "Of course, this whole picture comes about because the branding of retsina so far has not been the most successful - here we are, it wasn't even branded... As it should be. We have a special product with 100% Greek DNA, and we must treat it with respect, as it deserves. I recently tasted a retsina as it should be, with advanced production processes and attitudes that gave the wine a truly unique character. That day, at that wine tasting, I loved retsina".

WINE PHILOSOPHY.
So, since there is clear room for revisions, what is retsina for the well-known communications consultant? "Students - retsina - Coca Cola. The triptych that became retsina's branding – and it should change..." notes Mrs. Dodou. "Taste creates emotions",she adds. "And when the wine tastes good, when it accompanies a nice meal - whether you are with friends or alone - then it beautifully 'binds' a moment that you remember as a very good experience".
